This individual will maintain the electrical testing equipment, associated procedures, and will be responsible for the performance of receipt inspection and source verification activities. The successful candidate will perform receipt inspection and testing of material/components for SONGS and provide consultation/recommendations for acceptance. The receipt inspection involves testing using approved test plans on components received to dedicate them for Nuclear Safety related application. This individual may perform technical surveillances/source verifications of electrical components at suppliers facilities for the procurement of safety related components. The successful candidate may represent SONGS on audits as a Technical Specialist in order to maintain suppliers qualified for continued use. The successful candidate will be recognized internally as an expert in the field. This individual will review Engineering, purchase and component specifications for adherence to SONGS Topical Quality Assurance Manual and national standards, and provide technical recommendations to design and procurement engineering for materials testing. Typical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will support the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) site interface with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) personnel at the site, NRC Region IV offices in Arlington Texas, and the NRC headquarters in Washington, DC. This individual will lead site employees to identify and propose the resolution of complex issues that NRC inspectors have identified. The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling, modifying, and interpreting SONGS operating licenses and licensing based documents. This individual will participate in the site preparation for NRC inspections and related activities, including working with the NRC to obtain information requested, reviewing information requested by NRC to identify potential issues, coordinating inspection logistics and schedules, and identifying key Southern California Edison (SCE) personnel needed for inspections. This individual will also respond to emergent regulatory issues by managing the evaluation of the specific issue, and developing and implementing plans to address the issue. This includes developing summaries and other communications to NRC and SCE personnel. Other duties will include providing site support to site resident inspectors by processing immediate NRC notifications of plant conditions and performing reportability evaluations.
