The position is based in Westminster, but the successful candidate must be willing and able to travel and work within and outside of the SCE service territory for potentially extended durations, at times using a personal vehicle. Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship. This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
Preferences: - Field/shop experience managing or supervising overhaul or repair of large motors or generators. - Field/shop experience supervising overhaul or repair of steam/hydro turbines.
Typical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will supervise and provide direction and guidance to Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union employees (machinists and mechanics, tool room attendants, helpers, Motor/Generator Specialists) performing skilled craft and maintenance/repair activities. This position will be responsible for supervising the safety and welfare of union employees during the day to day activities of working in a field and shop environment and evaluating, training, coaching and mentoring union employees. The position may require traveling and working at field locations for an extended period of time in order to provide oversight and supervision of field activities performed by craft personnel. This position will be responsible for administering the union contracts (e.g. UWUA Local 246, IBEW Local 47 contracts) and address issues such as grievances, evergreen (overtime) and employee performance. This position will be responsible for providing cost estimates, work scopes and schedules for projects. This position will provide leadership on multiple simultaneous projects that have a significant impact to the business line. The supervisor will also interface with various internal and external customers, as well as management, in order to provide project status updates and resolve project issues. This position will be responsible for providing supervision and technical direction for work to be performed. This position will assist in the development of department policies and procedures. The Supervisor will contribute to the development of business unit plans, objectives, and initiatives including employee qualifications standards. This individual may require working swing shift, compressed work schedules or overtime as required to meet customer/job expectations as well as other duties and responsibilities, as requested.
